Finger Painting 101

I got VERY ambitious last week and bought Austin some finger paint & a kiddie smock while I was at the craft store. I laid out some newspaper on a small table outside so Austin and his cousin Isabella could paint. I was armed with water, baby wipes and a Nurse in case things got messy. ;)

I taped their paper down to the newspaper, but DOH...the wind started to move the newspaper. (Note to self: next time tape the newspaper down too.)

I wasn't sure Austin would like the finger paint texture, but he handled it just fine.

He even created his own technique...it's called Popsicle stick painting. Why get your fingers dirty?? Imagine that? Finger painting without your fingers. It's pure genius!!

He inspired Isabella to give it a try too!

Behold!!! The Masterpiece(s).

When all was said and done the kids enjoyed themselves and there was only one "incident". Of course as soon as it happened Nurse M asked me if I was sure the finger paint was non-toxic? Whoops!! (Yes, it was non-toxic and Austin lived to tell the tale.) I guess lucky for me that Austin doesn't really like much of anything in his mouth so he did not actually "eat" or swallow any paint. But I am pretty sure it tastes just like chicken, doesn't everything?
