Since Austin has Special Needs the simplest outing can become a HUGE production with loads of equipment to schlep around. By trial & error I have found that being prepared for anything has become my "side job". I never want to be stuck in the ER again with a blow out diaper & NO baby wipes!! It seems silly I know as being in the ER is bad enough, but imagine my horror when I realized I had everything needed for an Emergency Trach change and not the most important toddler item...Baby Wipes!!! We use them for everything, which is probably why I was out to begin with.
So now after EVERY outing I restock the diaper bag/emergency "Go" bag that same night. If we used two diapers & some wipes I restock it. If we used bottled water that gets refilled, if a bib got dirty it gets replaced. You get the idea. This restocking has become absolutely essential to making ANY trip outside of the house successful and less stressful.
This is our current bag of choice as it has PLENTY of room.

Now I must add that our diaper bag also doubles as a mini-ER. (Well not really, but it certainly feels that way some days.) In addition to regular toddler things like: sunscreen, extra pacis, diapers, wipes & Tylenol we also carry extra G-tube & Trach care supplies and an Ambu bag for any urgent situation that arises. So being prepared takes on a whole new meaning.
