Front Row Seats for Disney

We celebrated my nephew Xavier's 21st Birthday @ Disneyland last night. This was our fourth visit this year and I am LOVING the Annual Pass!!!

We started our late afternoon visit with our usual trip to City Hall for our Special Assistance pass. With this pass we are able to use Austin's Stroller as a Wheelchair for most of the rides & attractions. This is incredibly helpful, otherwise we would spend the better part of the day lugging medical equipment on & off the stroller for every ride or event. After City Hall, we headed over to First Aid. In all the years I have been going to Disneyland I have never had reason to go to First Aid, until now. Nope, no one was hurt. On Austin's first visit (in January) I found out (the hard way) that the Baby Care Center @ Disneyland was created before ADA came along. So after a very frustrating encounter with a not so helpful gal and realizing (too late) that they were not handicap accessible we were sent over to First Aid to change Austin's diaper. Everything happens for a reason. Turns out that was an AWESOME turn of events and we now visit regularly. The Nurses over at First Aid are so helpful and accommodating with Austin's needs. They are able to provide us with a private space to tube feed Austin, give him his water or medications, do a breathing treatment or even just change his diaper. What a GREAT idea Disney!!!

After a quick dinner, it was time to hit the rides. Austin was acting crabby on Casey Jr's Train, but look how excited his cousin Elijah was!! We were in the MONKEY cage! Yup, that's his cooling vest in action. It worked like a charm!!!

After Casey Jr we had a long wait for It's A Small World. We waited so long we saw this twice!! And yes, we were in the Special Assistance line. All the lines were outrageously long gotta love summer time and all those "tourists".

Next on the agenda was finding seating along the parade route for the Celebrate: A Street Party Parade. I have to send a Special Thanks out to the Universe for that very nice gentleman (dad) who cleared his own family out of the way so that Austin could sit right up front just minutes before the Parade came by. We are used to stares and the occasional rude remark about Austin's "stroller" or equipment, but it was so nice for Austin to be recognized as just a little kid who wanted to see the parade. That guy "got it!" As usual Disney did not disappoint, the parade was great! Austin was in awe of all the characters dancing right in front of him. We actually saw a sneak peek of this parade back in January when they filmed a Conga line promo along Main Street. It was great to go back and see it LIVE and in full swing!! Austin's cousin Daniel has been waiting for this, check it out!!!

After the parade we headed over to Frontier Land to stake out some seats for the Fantasmic show. Since we were early we got some great seats right up front. Austin & Elijah watched the ducks for an hour and a half while we waited for the show. Austin doesn't require a lot for entertainment, but those those little ducks sure came through.

Then just as they lowered the lights @ 9:00 PM for the show Austin closed his eyes and tried to doze off. Figures, right? And not a moment too soon, just as my camera battery died. He stayed awake for 1/2 of the 20 minute show, but then fell asleep completely exhausted. It was a great night out and Disney did not disappoint.

Thanks for peeking,
