Yes, Toby. Not Austin.

Some of you may remember Toby Tracheasaurus was adopted and arrived at our house a year ago, compliments of Passy-Muir, Inc.

Toby came with a Trach & Passy-Muir Speaking Valve, but not a feeding tube so he needed surgery to get a Mic-Key enteral feeding tube and upsize his Trach to match Austin's.
Today Toby had an appointment with the folks at Build A Bear in Downtown Disney. It was cousin Sophia's Birthday and she was going to get a bear, so I figured it was a good day for Austin to take Toby in for surgery.

Our "Surgeon" Johnny was SKILLED!! Toby didn't even need any anesthesia. Best of all, no pre-op appointment necessary!

Toby was also outfitted with a voice. He now says, "I Love You" when you press his left hand, paw, claw,...whatever it is.

Toby's First MIC-KEY button.

Austin was very impressed.

Turns out Toby had to return to surgery because his feeding tube stoma was too large. He needed a few stitches. While Toby was in recovery, Hello Kitty was stuffed & needed a bath.

Then it was time to SHOP!!! Both Toby & Kitty needed an outfit.

Decisions, decisions....

While shopping for clothes I found these other SN items:
A Wheelchair

A Medical Kit

They think of everything, well except for hearing aids!
Bianca, the surgical assistant, used some orange ribbon to make Toby's BAHA.

Once Toby was all done getting cut & sewn we had a fashion show. But not before the entire store sang our girl, Sophie "Happy Birthday".

Toby is now home and resting comfortably!

ETA: Did I mention we did not pay one penny for all the surgery? Now that is great Health Care!! Toby has WAY better coverage than Austin.
Thanks for peeking,

Dear Anonymous,
Thanks for finding that hearing aid they did not have one in the store. Too bad it is the wrong kind for us.
I never noticed Toby had no ears, but the same goes for Austin, which makes Toby the PERFECT animal friend for him!!
