Works For Me Wednesday - Organizing Tip

What do my scrapbook goodies and Austin's medications have in common? Not much, except I am obsessed with keeping them organized and in one spot!

Recently, while I was reorganizing my embellies, glue dots, scissors, etc., and loving on my beautiful, lime green scrapbook tote I had an organizing epiphany!!

I went out and found these small craft totes:

at the nearest discount dollar store. BINGO!

I loaded the purple one with medications & creams used on a daily basis.

The small, front & side pockets are the perfect size for Tylenol, Baby Orajel, Neosporin & Bandaids.

Inside, are Austin's vitamins & prescription medications: eye drops, pouches of medication for his breathing treatments, etc.

I loaded the green one with TOBI supplies. It holds the PariNeb used only for TOBI, needled syringes, saline bullets, alcohol swabs and of course one month's worth of TOBI vials.

It fit all this:

The handles on these "grab & go" medication totes make them easy to transport from one room to another room (or out the door, in case of emergency) and all the meds stay together. No longer I am tossing the diaper bag searching for that elusive bottle of teething pain tablets.

These are also the perfect size to sit side by side inside a locked cabinet, away from prying little hands.

No reason all the medical stuff needs to look, well you know, Medical! And best of all, they did not break the budget.

Funny story: Yesterday my mom grabbed a blue craft tote and was heading out the door to take my niece to school. The nurse frantically called after her, "No, no...those are Austin's meds".

But they weren't.

My mom liked my idea so much she got her own craft organizer and loaded it with hair ribbon, rubber bands, clips and a brush to use for my niece's hair kit. She & the nurse had a good laugh. Really, why would she be taking Austin's meds to school?

On a side note: I think I might swap out the purple organizer with her, it reminds me of Barney every time I look at it. Plus, I think my niece would love the girly color better.

That's what works for me. Be sure to check out Works For Me Wednesday for other helpful Organizing tips.

Isn't it something how fast the bag fills up with just neb treatments? This is a great idea. I'm always looking for something that makes us look a little less medical :)
