Morgan's Wonderland, My New Happy Place

So I am sure you all remember when I ranted and raved about the unhappy person at Disneyland recently. It was me!

It's time to turn the tables. Allow me to RAVE about a new theme park designed specifically for Special Needs families. How awesome is that? It "almost" makes me wish I still lived in Texas just so we could visit.

Morgan's Wonderland is destined to be my new happy place.

It opens next month and get this, ALL visitors must register to go. That means no long stressful lines, but a park that is expecting YOU!

Mission Statement: To provide a park that will nurture the minds and bodies of individuals with special needs and their families.

Vision Statement: To create and maintain a park that defines the possibilities of an accessible, fun, and unique recreational experience.

Can I get an AMEN?

But wait there's more...

As well as being entry and exit controlled, the park also "features RFID locator wristbands and touch screen display monitors so parents and caregivers can keep track of family and friends."

Did your heart just leap for joy?

At the risk of sounding like an infomercial I could go on and on, but you can read all about the fancy features of this 25 acre park here, and trust me it gets better!!

One additional feature that I wanted to point out that I think is just AWESOME is something that will help kids like Austin who have heat intolerance.

"Almost every activity within the park is shaded. There are also be several shaded rest stops, picnic areas and well located water fountains and restrooms. In addition, many of the facilities and pavilions have water misters for added comfort." Alleluia!

Make your next family vacation destination Morgan's Wonderland in San Antonio, Texas and enjoy it for yourself. This is more than just one family's dream come true, it is a miracle realized for all families with Special Needs.

Grand Opening is just 30 days away, April 10, 2010. For more information or to make a reservation please visit:

I've been peeking into your blog over the past week. I found it through one of the rare disease pages.

My son has a rare metabolic disorder, MMA Cbl-C.

Max doesn't tolerate crowds...and business like so many theme parks have. And sometimes, you just want to go somewhere where you're not the only one lugging a wheelchair around, trying to give your kid some sort of "normal" childhood.

The heat may get Max, but there is always winter! I can't wait to visit Morgan's Wonderland!

I saw this on the news the other day and am in love. I live about 2 hours from there and want to take the boys! What a true blessing this is! It is open now but the grand opening is in April.

I'm so excited about this, I just posted the info on our Cardiomyopathy listserv. Pretty much all our kids are heat intolerant and that part really caught my attention. Thanks for writing about it!
