I bought him a different floaty that I have not posted yet and he did even better this time than last time. My best suggestion is do what you feel comfortable with. If you are too nervous then please wait, your LO will feel that and anxiety in the pool with kids is enough, but with a Trach...well, you know. A few things that worked for us: He only goes in the pool with adults so there is no splashing and everyone understands that. With kids it may be hard to enforce that unless you have special powers ;) I also took in a few of his bath toys so he would feel comfortable floating around holding those. He is only in the floaty and only about to where his rib cage is. He is still young so I think he is cool with this setup for now because he doesn't know any better, not sure how much a 6yo might be willing to restrain herself. Also I should note he gets more wet in the bathtub than the pool, his hair basically stays dry!!The nurse, suction machine & phone are all nearby. Good luck and let us know how she does.

my daughter is 6 1/2 years old and has a trach, th...

my daughter is 6 1/2 years old and has a trach, this is her second summer home with us since we adopted her.
