Thank you so much for sharing your's and Austin's story. Karin and I became friends when Alex was born and the hospital called me in to come chat with her. They wanted me to fill her in on what life would be like having a trached and g-tube-fed child. My son was born with a cleft palate and a small chin that made his tongue occlude his airway. I told Karin all that I could, but no one knows what it will truly be like unless you experience it for yourself. Nathan's been decannulated for almost 2 years. It feels like it's been forever, but at the same time it feels like just yesterday. I have walked in your shoes andknow how difficult it is. Please know you will be in my thoughts and if you ever need someone to talk to, I'll be here for you (even though we've never met)!
