About Janis

My name is Janis, but these days I go by Mommy.

My purpose for this blog is to show all the facets of our life. I'm a single mom, he's a child with special medical needs; we're getting by. I strive not only to bring awareness about Austin's diagnosis, but to show that our life is not ALL medical.

I try my hardest to make sure that Austin's life is as typical as any child, or as typical as as any child who needs nursing supervision 24/7 can be. Trust me, I do not have my head in the sand. I realize that statistically speaking he has a lot to overcome, but it's my job to make sure he doesn't realize it.



So while my current job description: Chauffeur, Teacher, Therapist, Nurse, Personal Assistant, Advocate, Mother to one special little guy may not be appealing to some, I am pretty darn good at it.

I am a strong advocate for families raising a child with special medical needs. And in the process I have become quite a social media junkie. The internet has been my biggest source of information AND community support.
